Kia Motors is set to recall 2,597 units of its sports utility vehicle Sorento in the United States due to a defect in its safety belt.
According to the website of the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) on July 30, the 2016 Sorento model produced between October 23 and December 10, 2014, were confirmed to have faulty safety belt buckles.
The safety belt is not fastened well due to faulty buckles. Only the front passenger seat has this problem.
Kia Motors plans to notify the owners of the vehicles concerned and replace their safety belt buckles for free starting from August 15. Four months ago in March, Kia Motors had recalled 12,361 units of the 2016 Sorento model due to defects in accelerator pedals.
