LG Electronics is set to join hands again with Google to release the next-generation Android operating system reference phone Nexus in October.
This phone is garnering attention as it will be mounted with Google’s mobile simple payment service Android Pay.
According to industry sources on August 6, the upcoming Nexus phone will be embedded with Google’s ambitious Android Pay. Reference phones, in general, have characteristics like a trial model for the next-generation operating system, thereby achieving strong sales.
Once being selected as a Nexus phone maker, the smartphone maker concerned has an advantage over rivals because it can develop earlier than others various software programs using the latest Android version.
Google is also believed to have formed an alliance with a Chinese smartphone maker Huawei to produce the Nexus phone for the Chinese market.
Thus far, Google has showed off six types of Nexus phones through cooperation with LG Electronics, Samsung Electronics, Motorola, and HTC. For the upcoming Nexus model, LG Electronics appears to be making a 5-inch model, while Huawei a 5.7-inch model.
