Kia Motors’ mid-sized box car Soul passed the 1-million mark in cumulative overseas sales.
Kia announced on August 11 that its exports of the box car Soul (including electric car model) reached 1,017,813 units during the period from 2008 to June 2015.
During the same period, the domestic sales of Soul stood at 83,346 units, indicating that the Soul overseas sales are about 12 times higher than its domestic sales.
The shipments of Soul, which stood at 10,463 units in its first year 2008, have continued to rise. In 2014 when the sales of 2G Soul model began in earnest, Kia Motors exported 217,368 units of the Soul, up 43.6 percent from a year ago.
The United States is the largest export outlet for the Soul, accounting for about 80 percent in the model’s overall shipments.
