Samsung Electronics called for putting off additional arbitration for the negotiation of leukemia victims in its semiconductor plant.
The smartphone maker said on Monday that, "Following the recommendation made from the arbitration committee, victim families have been asking for immediate compensation and they have different voices within the family and the union."
It added that, "We submitted the company's stance to the arbitration committee considering the family's request."
Last December, the arbitration committee was set up to solve the leukemia victim issue in Samsung Electronics' semiconductor plant. After a six-month period, the committee laid out the recommendation, saying that Samsung should donate 100 billion won.
Banolim - union for labor's health - welcomed the recommendation while victim family opposed it on the ground that they should wait too long to get compensation.
