Orion, one of Korea’s leading snack makers, passed the 1-trillion-won mark in cumulative sales in Vietnam.

Orion announced on August 19 that it posted sales of 84 billion won in Vietnam in the first half of this year, with its cumulative sales there reaching 1,002 billion won.

Orion made its first shipments to Vietnam in 1995 and established a stronger presence in 2006 when it set up a local plant in Ho Chi Minh City. Orion’s annual sales in Vietnam broke the 100-billion-won level first in 2010, and, thereafter, continued to grow, reaching 150.1 billion won in 2014.

The company has pursued a thorough localization strategy in Vietnam, with its snack products, including Choco Pie, being tailored to fully satisfy the tastes of local consumers. Orion is now enjoying the No. 1 market share in Vietnam’s snack market.
