Sonata was selected as "Top Safety Pick" this year from the U.S. Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.

In order to prove fairness, the company let both auto professor from Daelim University and power blogger choose cars respectively and conducted a collision test. After countdown, the two cars drove at 56 km/h face-to-face and collided head-on.

After the collision, the doors of both cars opened and their air bag inflated. Under the Korean New Car Assessment Program by the Ministry of Land and Transport, both cars received the highest ratings in the injury areas of head, chest and legs.
