Hyundai Motor’s Creta is enjoying an explosive growth in sales in India’s SUV market.
According to industry sources on August 24, Hyundai’s Creta was sold 6,783 units in July 2015 in India, ranking No. 1 in terms of sales volume among the 23 SUV brands selling in India.
Backed by the strong performance of the Creta, Hyundai Motor’s overall car sales in India rose to 36,503 units last month, up 24.7 percent from a year before. The Creta accounted for 93.8 percent in Hyundai Motor’s overall sales growth there.
In just one month after release there, Creta achieved the No. 9 spot in overall car sales ranking in India. India’s car market is dominated by lightweight cars and compact cars which each command a share of 50 percent and 21.7 percent.
In other words, eight out of ten most-selling cars in India are these types of cars. Given this in mind, it is an extraordinary phenomenon that the Creta is gaining such a huge and instant popularity in India.
