Korea’s major electric vehicle battery markers are winning a string of supply orders from Europe.

According to industry sources on September 16, Samsung SDI will supply its electric vehicle batteries to Bentley’s first plug-in hybrid electric vehicles. Bentley is a luxury brand unit of Volkswagen.

The Bentley vehicle which will be mounted with Samsung SDI batteries is its latest SUV Bentayga. A Samsung SDI official said, “We cannot confirm anything yet related with the customer.”

LG Chem, which is vying for the top spot in the global EV battery market, is also expected to collaborate with Nissan Motor. Nissan plans to install LG Chem’s EV batteries for its popular EV model Leaf. At present, Nissan is supplied the batteries from AESC (Automotive Energy Supply), a joint venture it created together with NEC.

According to market research firm Lux Research, Panasonic has the largest share in the global EV battery market, chased closely by LG Chem and Samsung SDI.
