3M is known as one of the leading firms in the Electronic Components and Devices industries. Under the name of Vikuiti, it is showing off the company's expertise in energy savings with the Dual Brightness Enhancement Film (DBEF) for LCD-TVs. Most of their technologies are compiled into Vikuit's DBEF that actually differentiate from other LCD TV products in terms of energy savings.
Vikuit DBEF increases the energy efficiency of LCD TV backlights from 32 to 52 percent and LCD TVs from 23 to 37 percent. It also enables brighter display without viewing angle restrictions and an equal brightness display with less energy use, fewer bulbs and lower temperature.
The booth included a simple comparison experiment between 3M's LCD display with Vikuit's DBEF technology and a regular LCD display. The experiment decreased their electric power. A regular LCD display goes out as soon as electric power decreases but 3M's LCD display still shows a picture on its screen even though electric power has decreased. How about brightness When power is increased, both show almost the same brightness. This means that Vikuit DBEF provides higher energy efficiency with greater flexibility in using power.
"As you see from this experiment, our Vikuit DBEF provides excellent energy efficiency to LCD displays so that it meets with green energy use as one of the most rising issues today", officials of 3M said.
