The South Korean government are known to finish its development of ballistic missiles with a range of 800 kilometers by 2017.
According to a South Korean military official Thursday, the Agency for Defense Development (ADD) has proposed the year 2017 as the deadline for the extension of its ballistic missiles' range in a five-year development plan.
It is the first time South Korea has revealed a road map for extending the range of its missiles since agreeing with the U.S. in 2012.
One government official said, referring to the defense development agency's road map under the Park Geun-hye administration, the maximum range of the South Korean military's ballistic missiles will be from 300 km to 800 km.
The missile with a range of 800 kilometers could strike any area in North Korea from any point fo its choosing in the country.
The government plans to implement the kill Chain, a preemptive strike apparatus that detects before the North lauches nuclear and ballistic missiles.
