LG Chem, South Korea's leading chemicals and battery maker, has recently set up Tech Center at Guangzhou located in China's Guangdong.
The two-story, 4,000 square meters center was built with an investment of 10 billion won. 3 billion won was poured into analysis and processing facilities. It currently houses around 40 research employees including local staffs.
As the Chinese market emerged as the largest market, bringing around 10 trillion won - more than 40 percent of total sales -- to the company last year, LG Chem decided to set up the center to provide prompt and high-quality services to its clients.
The battery maker has already run its local tech center in Daejeon since 1995, specializing in its technical service & development. Beyond simple maintenance service, it has dealt with product development, quality improvement, raising productivity and manufacturing facilities, the company said.
