LG Electronics kept its lead in the U.S. drum washing machine market in the January-September period of this year, raising expectations that it could maintain the top spot in that market for nine straight years.
According to LG Electronics on October 26, U.S. market research firm Stevenson Company recently revealed the result of its survey, saying that LG had a market share of 25.6 percent in American drum washing machine market in the first nine months of this year.
In the third quarter of this year, LG Electronics grabbed a share of 27.7 percent in this segment, the second highest since the company launched its first drum washing machine there in 2003.
LG Electronics, in particular, showed strength in premium models with a unit price of more than $900. In this category, LG’s market share for the January-September period of this year stood at 31.4 percent, about twice higher than the No. 2 player. In the third quarter, LG’s share in the premium model category stood at 33.6 percent, indicating that one out of three premium drum washing machines sold in the United States was made by LG.
LG Electronics has been maintaining its top spot in the U.S. drum washing machine market for eight consecutive years since 2007.
