The First Session
President Park Geun-hye attended the first session and second session of the APEC Economic Leaders` Summit. At the first session has discussed "Inclusive Growth through Regional Economic Integration."on Nov,20.
Park pointed out the necessity for devising innovative strategies for the sake of renewed growth in the Asia-Pacific region. She then introduced the policy efforts of the Korean Government, including the Three-year Plan for Economic Innovation and the reform drive in four major areas.
In addition, Park stressed that endeavors for economic integration should be accelerated to expand the base for regional growth. She also reaffirmed Korea’s commitment to crystallizing the idea of the Free Trade Area of the Asia-Pacific by helping developing nations bolster their capabilities in FTA negotiations.
The Second Session
President Park attended the second session of the APEC Economic Leaders` Summit in the afternoon and discussed measures to promote "Inclusive Growth through Resilient and Sustainable Communities."
During the session, Park introduced Korea`s policy efforts for labor reform and a creative economy and went on to stress Korea`s commitment to contributing to dealing with such global issues as emerging infectious diseases and climate change.
Park also expressed her hope that by hosting the APEC Economic Leaders’ Summit in 2025, Korea would be able to further contribute to the common prosperity of the Asia-Pacific region. The APEC members welcomed her offer, confirming Korea’s hosting of the 2025 APEC Economic Leaders’ Summit.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the APEC Economic Leaders’ Declaration, titled “Building Inclusive Economies, Building a Better World: A Vision for an Asia-Pacific Community,” was adopted.
