This is the first time for the company's luxury sedan to have more than 1 million units in pre-sales.
According to Hyundai on Tuesday, Genesis EQ900 sold 9,800 units as of Dec.7, compared to 8,487 units of its limousine Equus sold as pre-sale. The accumulative sales of Equus this year stood at 4,679 units, half the figure of Genesis EQ900.
With presales of additional 200 units, the figure will pass 10,000 and the goal is expected to be achieved on Wednesday, according to industry watchers.
Earlier on Nov.23 when the pre-sales of EQ900 began, the preliminary sales hit 4,342, heralding strong sales of the luxury sedan.
