Korean platform provider ESE has signed an agreement with China’s Zhong Tong Smart City Limited Company to supply its smart center platform Rino to Chuzhou’s smart city project. Chuzhou is a city situated in eastern Anhui Province, China.

Under the agreement, ESE’s Rino platform will be applied to Chuzhou’s various industries and urban functions such as transportation, energy, security, crime prevention, environmental protection, firefighting, waterworks, etc. to turn Chuzhou into a smart, safe and pleasant city that is capable of minimizing causalities and property damage in the event of a disaster or emergency.

In 2014, Chuzhou had been selected as a pilot city for the smart city project carried out by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development of China. For the next five years, pilot projects worth 2 billion yuan will be implemented in 13 areas, including smart community, smart urban management and smart transportation.

The agreement was a feat achieved through the National IT industry Promotion Agency (NIPA)’s comprehensive consulting service for Korean ICT companies wanting to enter overseas markets. As the agreement will have a Chinese smart city running on a Korean smart city platform, it is expected to work as a catalyst for Korean companies specializing in IoT and smart city technologies to make inroads into China’s smart city market.

China’s Zhong Tong Smart City Limited Company will connect geographical information systems (GIS), CCTV camera systems, IOT systems and facilities to an intelligent situation board via the Rino smart city platform, with a view to enabling real-time monitoring, flexible control of a situation board, emergency alarm systems and work scenario management. By combining those necessary control center functions offered by the Rino platform, Zhong Tong Smart City Limited Company plans to set up an integrated command and control center that can operate the entire smart city. A Rino-based smart city is projected to become a successful smart city model in China.
