Jointly with Alibaba Group, China’s Sun Media Group is actively pushing to acquire animation-related intellectual property rights in Korea. Starting from the latest acquisition of TVLogic, Sun Media Group intends to make active investment in Korea’s promising and creative IP-related companies.
Bruno Wu, chairman of Sun Media Group, said on December 13, “Korea’s IP contents combined with our extensive network could create huge synergies in the whole Asian market.”
Sun Media Group is China’s largest media group with 60 subsidiaries with specialty in film and drama production. It also holds 440 intellectual properties, including famous movies such as “Titanic” and “Rush Hour.”
TVLogic, which was recently acquired by Sun Media Group, is a TV monitor manufacturer holding more than a 90-percent share in Korea’s high-definition monitor market. Sun Media Group recently acquired stakes in TVLogic, with Wu being appointed as an internal director during TVLogic’s recent shareholders meeting on December 10.
