SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-Won -- who has recently dropped a bombshell by announcing that he had an extramarital affair for several years and had a child out of wedlock-- made an appearance at the SK Group’s New Year’s party, held on Jan. 4.
The SK Group’s New Year’s party was held Monday morning at W Seoul Walkerhill with the SK Group’s CEOs, executives and staff members in attendance. Following Chairman Chey’s shocking exposé of his very private life, shares of SK dropped more than 5 percent from the closing price recorded on Dec. 28.
For fear of being bombarded with questions and camera flashes, Chairman Chey chose not to brave the journalists waiting at the front gate of the hotel.
“Five minutes before the party began, Chairman Chey entered the room through a separate entrance,” said an SK Group official.
The last time Chairman Chey attended the SK Group’s New Year’s party was three years ago in 2013 because he was behind bars in 2013-2015.
