CJ E&M consortium plans to invest 1 trillion won to build a Korean Wave-themed multi-complex "K Culture Valley," consisting of multi-performance halls, a theme park, and a hotel, within the Hallyu World in Goyang in the northwest of Seoul. The construction will begin next month for completion by the end of 2017.
Six ministries, including the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, the Ministry of Science, ICT, and Future Planning, the Financial Services Commission, presented the 2016 business plan, including the establishment of the K Culture Valley, to the President Park Geun-hye at Cha Bio Complex in Seongnam in Gyeonggi Province on January 18.
The K Culture Valley will be established as part of the government's culture creativity convergence belt project which it revealed in February 2015. The K Culture Valley will consist of content park where visitors can take a glimpse of Korean Wave movie and drama-making scenes and sets, plus a 1,500-seat performance hall.
