This program, which was initiated by the City of Paris and co-founded by prestigious partners, will see the light of day in the middle of 2016 and will have a site dedicated to it in the 20th arrondissement in East Paris.

Its first aim to help young innovative companies working in this arena to emerge, its second is to structure and facilitate meetings between large companies and start-ups, within a site which responds to this topic’s specific needs.

Proposing Innovative Solutions

Food is at the heart of many crucial issues such as health, environmental management and France’s influence in the world. Smart Food Paris aims to offer innovative solutions to meet these challenges. “The means of production are being transformed, the consumers’ expectations are evolving and the digital world offers new ways of getting food.

It is these challenges which the Smart Food Paris start-ups will have to face, working with large partnering companies who are also confronted with these challenges on a daily basis,” explained Jean-Louis Missika, Assistant to the Paris Mayor in charge of economic development and attractiveness.

A place to bring people together, to debate and to meet others

The aim is also for this platform to become a meeting place for the community of innovators and companies interested in this issue. The platform Smart Food is therefore going to become the point of reference Parisian for innovation in the field of nutrition. “Mixing tradition and culinary innovation, in one place to better think about and respond to the new needs and means of consumption, such is the recipe proposed by the City, its agency Paris&Co and its partners.

This new innovation platform will give people a chance of seeing the new trends emerge and tasting the successes of tomorrow, all the while bringing together the various interested parties in the world’s gastronomy capital”, added Olivia Polski, Assistant to the Mayor in charge of commerce, crafts and liberal professions.

Calls for applications from young innovative companies opened this morning and will close on 17 February 2016: http://pic.agorize.com/fr/challenges/smart-food-paris. Twelve to fifteen start-ups will be selected and integrated into the program. Alongside the City of Paris and its innovation agency Paris&Co, the founding members of this nurturing program are the Elior Group, Carrefour, the Group Up and Danone.
