SK Telecom, the largest mobile operator in South Korea, said on Jan 25 that it would commercialize ‘Uplink CA (Carrier Aggregation)’- a data uplink technology that can more than double data upload speeds - for the first time in the nation.
To meet the growing needs of individuals interested in live one-person webcasting and SNS (social networking service) users uploading photos and videos frequently, SK Telecom (SKT) is making preparations for the commercialization of Uplink CA.
The company expects that the introduction of the new technology will not merely help meet the growing needs for posting images or videos faster and more efficiently but also allow the relevant industries, such as multi-channel networks (MCN), user-created content (UCC) and SNS, to expand.
SKT plans to increase upload speeds even further by additionally deploying UL 64- QAM (a technology designed to jack up efficiency in uploading data) and MC-PUSCH (which combines disparate frequencies in the same spectrum into a single usable frequency).
