SK C&C, the system integration (SI) affiliate of SK Group, has joined hands with a Vietnamese transportation IT company to make inroads into Vietnam’s ITS (intelligent transport system) market.

SK C&C said that it had signed an MoU with Vietnamese company ITD to increase cooperation on ITS projects on Mar. 15 in Hanoi.

ITD, the No. transportation IT company in Vietnam, has built transportation systems of major Vietnamese cities, managed by the Ministry of Transport of Vietnam.

SK C&C said: “First of all, ITD was impressed by SK C&C’s NEXCORE-based ITS platform called ‘NEXCORE-ITS,’ which is currently being applied to an ITS project for Hanoi-Haiphong Expressway. Thus, ITD made overtures to us.”

NEXCORE-ITS is an integrated ITS that encompasses various systems for vehicle detection & surveillance, traffic monitoring, toll collection, variable message signs (VMS), CCTV cameras, BMS (Bus Management System), BIS (Bus information System), parking violation monitoring, etc.

An SK C&C official said: “The application of our cutting-edge traffic system NEXCORE-ITS to Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, and Ulaanbaatar, the capital of Mongolia, indicates that NEXCORE-ITS has established itself as a global ITS platform that represents S. Korea.”
