Korea Electronics Grand Fair 2009 was held at KINTEX in Ilsan, Gyeonggi Province, from Oct. 13-16 with the catch phrase "Be the first witness to meet the future." This show attracted public attention by combining four mega electronics events such as the Korea Electronics Show (KES), i-SEDEX, IMID and IT Convergence Korea.  It concentrated most of Korea's products and technologies into the same place and time.

The show was very successful in providing information about cutting-edge Korean products to global buyers.  There was a 50 percent increase in the total number of participants and buyers compared with previous shows. Despite the global economic recession that began last year, India and Russia sent buyers for communication devices, the USA and Brazil sent buyers for broadcasting devices, and China and Japan sent buyers for 3D content and cutting edge electronics. These factors gave Korean manufacturers more opportunities to introduce their technologies.

The opening ceremony was also different. A Wearable Computer Fashion Show was held during the opening ceremony, and it attracted a lot of public attention on a special stage. In keeping pace with this, a lot of interesting shows regarding 3D, Digital Broadcasting, Digital Hospital, Green IT, vehicle in IT were also held during the exhibition periods.

In total, 865 electronics giants, small and medium-sized firms around the world opened booths and their TVs, cellular phones, displays, semiconductors, and more attracted keen interest from buyers. Three thousand potential foreign buyers searched out whatever electronics gadgets and devices they were looking for. Their attention also focused on Korea's IT giants such as Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics as they showed super high-quality OLED TV and 3D displays. The show also showed directions to exhibitors regarding B2B and B2C investment by displaying government policy and leading technologies in the field of Next-Generation Computing, broadcasting, display and medical gadgets.

Meanwhile, actual results of export consultations were US$16.5 billion during four days, involving negotiations with 3,000 foreign buyers from 25 countries.
