LG Electronics teams up with the Korea Water Resources Corporation (or K-water) to galvanize hydropower projects.

A case in point is a floating solar panel project, in which the panels are lying on the water body and they attract the sun, but they can use the water to cool themselves down because they start to lose efficiency when they get very hot.

The two will also cooperate on the development of energy storage systems (ESS) for K-water’s facilities. LG, K-water and SMEs will jointly develop energy storage systems specifically for K-water’s water purification plants and Sihwa Lake Tidal Power Station (the world's largest tidal power installation).

What’s more, the two plan to explore ways to jointly enter overseas hydropower markets by developing hydropower business models targeting countries that lack power infrastructures and have difficulties building large-scale power plants.
