ESE, a Korean IT solution provider, said on April 28 that it had signed a provisional contract (worth 10 billion won) with China's Zhong Tong Smart City Limited Company to supply an integrated smart-city solution based on its smart center platform, Rino.

ESE participated in 2016 China Road Show, held on April 18-21 by the Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning (MSIP) and the National IT Industry Promotion Agency (NIPA). ESE demonstrated its latest ‘smart city’ technologies and held business meetings at 2016 China Road Show attended by officials from nearly 160 Chinese IT companies, including Huawei, Baidu and iSoftStone.

On April 20, ESE struck a provisional deal with China's Zhong Tong Smart City Limited Company to introduce its Rino-based integrated solution to a smart city project in Hebei.

Under the deal, both companies will join forces in building a next-generation smart city in Caofeidian District, Tangshan, Hebei, by combining urban functions with various industries such as transport, energy, security, crime prevention, the environment, fire fighting, water supply, etc.

Once the Hebei smart city project has been completed, the city will become safe, clean and capable of minimizing causalities and property damage in the event of an accident.

In 2013, the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development of China selected Caofeidian District as a pilot city for its smart city project. Over the next five years, 1 billion yuan will be ploughed into the smartization of 15 areas, including libraries, transport, the environment and logistics, to turn Caofeidian District into a smart city.

An official from Zhong Tong Smart City Limited Company said: “We expect ESE’s Rino-based integrated solution will become a smart city success model for other regions that are carrying out various smart city projects.”

ESE’s Rino smart center platform enables real-time monitoring of complex events by utilizing GIS (Geographical Information Systems)-based CCTV cameras and collecting and analyzing data obtained from IoT sensors.

ESE’s Rino is an open smart city control platform designed to enable accurate control and speedy responses to unexpected events.

ESE’s Rino facilitates real-time monitoring of any abnormal situation by intelligently controlling IoT sensors, video information, GIS information, facilities and events.

Rino is a one-stop solution to set up smart city systems easily and quickly through flexible control of situation boards and management of emergency alarms and SOP (Standard Operation Procedure). In addition, Rino’s integrated management of systems can help reduce costs by more than 40 percent.
