The two-day Echelon Asia Summit 2016, one of the largest technology and start-up fairs in Asia was held on June 15-16. The Fintech Center set up the Korean Fintech pavilion at the venue of Echelon Asia Summit 2016 to showcase advances in the Korean fintech industry.
Echelon Asia Summit was established back in 2009 with the goal of bringing Asia's top startups, innovators and investors under one roof. Echelon Asia Summit 2016, in its 8th year, attracted 5,000 top-tier digital professionals and entrepreneurs, including officials from global investment companies, venture capital firms, government agencies, startup accelerators and fintech firms and general investors. Echelon Asia Summit consists of a global startup conference, a startup competition and programs for business networking.
At Echelon Asia Summit 2016, the Fintech Center signed an MoU with the Singapore FinTech Consortium to ramp up Korea-Singapore cooperation on fintech and exchanges of information. Standard Chartered Bank Korea (SC Korea) launched its tablet computer-based mobility platform in Singapore and introduced its business model for the platform.
Fintech institutions of S. Korea and Singapore were introduced and discussions on the Korean government’s fintech promotion policy took place. Eleven Korean fintech firms exhibited at Echelon Asia Summit 2016, enjoying attention from financial companies and venture capitalists from various countries.
