LG Electronics and LG Telecom (CEO: Jung Il-jae) will provide the LG LH8600S cell-phone that can read a book for visually handicapped people.
At Braille Day on November 4, LG Electronics, LGT and LG Sangnam Library announced that they will donate 2,000 cellphones for visually handicapped people. They will choose 2,000 people from applications submitted, and supply the phones in the middle of December.
LG LH8600S supports the most optimized version of text to speech (TTS) vocal support which was launched by LG Electronics recently. Also, it can convert and read every menu and text message in the phone. The phone model supports Name Dialing, a Phone Menu Search Service and Vocal Manual Service. It also adds projections to the keypad so that visually handicapped people can easily find the buttons they are searching for. Additionally, the GPS-based SOS service which is the Wine3 platform's added function is very helpful for visually handicapped people.
Executive Vice-President of LG Electronics Cho Sung-ha said, "The LG LH8600S is a product which has intensive technical care for customers ... I wish that the lives of visually handicapped people will become prosperous by LG Electronics' precedent of mobile technology."
