A Korean citizen has recently lodged a complaint with the Supreme Prosecutors’ Office against Samsung Group chairman Lee Kun-hee after video clips showing Lee allegedly buying sex were revealed last week.
The Supreme Prosecutors’ Office said on July25 that the case has been transferred to the Seoul District Prosecutors’ Office.
On July 21, video footage showing Lee paying sex workers at his home was made public by local news outlet Newstapa. Lee is being accused of paying sex workers, presumably in their 20s and 30s, for sexual services on five separate occasions at his residence in Samsung-dong and a secret residence in Nonhyun-dong from 2011 to 2013.
Three to five sex workers appear in the video each time. The Nonhyun-dong residence was rented in the name of the former chief of Samsung SDS.
Prosecutors will first obtained the video and investigate whether the sex workers actually were paid for sexual services by Lee and whether those who filmed the video blackmailed Samsung.
