South Korea's government plans to create a new establishment known as the GGGI (Global Green Growth Institute) in the first half of next year. South Korean President Lee Myung Park arrived at Copenhagen, Denmark on December 17, 2009 to discuss with the UN and other countries about the ongoing dangers of greenhouse gas emissions and what can be done and needs to be done. He gave a keynote speech about climate change and how GGGI can bring together the top educated people as well as climate experts from around the world to create a more environmental friendly world. He also stated that this research institute will serve as a think tank for global green growth plans.
President Lula of Brazil was present at this conference. He stated that "Global Green Growth should be the new global paradigm. Global Green Growth must establish a policy and establish a foundation to aim towards a goal of cutting down greenhouse gas emissions."
GGGI will be established in Korea in the first half of 2010 and will be the main headquarters. However, they are striving to create 5 separate branches globally by 2012.
Chung Wah Deh, a interested person in this topic, stated, "GGGI is Korea's first established structure that the whole world will participate in. Both the advanced countries as well as the underdeveloped countries will participate in this organization."
