LG CNS said that it has won a 30.7 billion won deal to build screen door systems for platforms on the light rapid transit (LRT) circle lines in Lusail, the newest planned city in Qatar.
LG CNS will build screen doors at 11 train stations on four LRT lines. The deal is meaningful in that LG CNS has made inroads into the Middle East transportation market has been dominated by global providers of intelligent transportation systems (ITS).
The deal will raise LG CNS’s chances of winning subsequent deals in Qatar and help the company break into the ITS markets of Saudi Arabia, Dubai and the United Arab Emirates.
An LG CNS-led consortium, comprised of Korean SMEs specializing in platform screen door (PSD) systems, such as Woori Technology and BosungRND will supply homegrown screen door equipment and IT solutions to Lusail.
Vice President Lee Eung-jun of LG CNS's smart transportation business said: “We will continue to venture into the Middle East market by drawing on our know-how on building systems and our smart transportation technologies like PSD systems, FMS (Fleet Management System) and AFC (Automated Fare Collection).”
