Nuclear Power in South East Asia- Potentials vs Reality

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Korea IT Times Dec.1--The 8th Annual Nuclear Power Asia is set to take place on 7-8 March 2017 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Co-hosted by the Malaysia Nuclear Power Corporation (MNPC), partnered with Nuclear Malaysia and supported by regional nuclear agencies like, Korean Nuclear Energy Agency (KNEA), and National Nuclear Energy Agency of Indonesia (BATAN), Nuclear Power Asia will take a realistic view on where the current ASEAN nuclear power industry is, its fast changing energy landscape and where nuclear power stands as part of Asia’s advancement towards fuelling a sustainable future using Nuclear Power.

With a focus on new build, new capacities and development in Asia, the two-day conference will open with a Keynote Speech by Malaysian Minister, Dato’ Sri Hajah Nancy Shukri giving an insights on Malaysia’s Nuclear development.

40+ expert speakers will address the challenges, finance options, improving public acceptance and understanding, innovative reactor technology, nuclear insurance and cyber security, focus on interfacing nuclear power plants with the electric grid and the continued opportunities in investing and developing nuclear new build. It is the premier platform to facilitate NPP knowledge and experiences exchange between Asia and other parts of the world.

The strong support from regional nuclear agencies and other key Government associations in ASEAN will ensure 150 key ASEAN decision-makers in attendance and over 150 international participants from nuclear energy authorities, nuclear operators, energy commissions, technology licensing players, and fuel suppliers. Government officials, international developers, law firms, consultants and solution providers will also attend the event.

For the participants from outside Asia, this year’s programme will cover valuable information on the key developments of Asia’s nuclear industry, how to invest in these countries, licensing procedures and other formalities, while regional participants are promised to gain knowledge and experience on economic analysis for NPP, global new build projects updates, insurance PLTN and new technologies.

A press conference with the Ministers and VIP speakers will be held during the morning coffee break on Day One, 7th March 2017.
