It has been announced that one of the country's best display export products is the LED. With Samsung and LG pioneering the way for these LED products to be sold overseas, exports have dramatically increased.
On January 10, 2010, the Korea International Trade Association announced that from January to November in 2009, domestic LED, exports reached US$527 million. In 2008, during the same 11 month period, domestic LED exports reached US$336 million. Comparing to 2008's result, the 2009 export situation is a 56 percent increase.
Revenues for these LED products have also increased. During the same 11 month period, revenues in 2009 reached US$848 million. This is a 24 percent increase from 2008, when revenues reached US$682 million.
However, the records for December 2009 have not been released yet, but the predictions are that it will increase also, compared to 2008 due to the dramatic increases in the previous months.
Yu Jung-hui, President of Koled, a LED portal site, stated, "The country's LED industry is growing, which is increasing exports and revenues. However, exports are increasing at a faster rate compared to revenues. At this current rate, the balance of trade's equilibrium will be formed and that result will be coming soon."
