Taiwanese tech giant Hon Hai Precision Industry Co (better known as Foxconn) is seeking to join forces with South Korean memory chip maker SK Hynix to bid for Toshiba’s chip business, according to Nikkei Asian Review. However, it is still uncertain whether SK Hynix will join hands with Foxconn.
On March 9, Nikkei Asian Review reported that SK Hynix was considering various options, including forming a consortium with Foxconn, an investment fund or a financial institution, to acquire Toshiba’s chip business. SK Hynix declined to make any comment on whether it would team up with Foxconn or some other company in bidding for the Toshiba unit.
