On January 28, 2010, it was publicly announced that Incheon will open the world's first robot theme park in 2013. The theme park will be called Incheon Robot Land and construction will begin in June of this year pending the government's approval. This theme park will cover 767,287 square meters, about three times the size of Seoul Land. The theme park will feature 26 different attractions including a twisting rollercoaster known as the Taekwon V mega coaster and a 4D space ride. A character known as Robot Taekwon Boy has been chosen to become the theme park's main representative.

On January 28, 2010, about 200 people were in attendance at Incheon's Songdo Convensia to discuss plans regarding this new theme park. On the blueprint of the land covering this theme park, they plan to establish public interest facilities, the theme park itself, and other additional facilities. At the public interest facilities, they plan to establish a KAIST Robot Graduate School, cutting-edge robot research facilities, a robot stadium, robot themed daycare facilities, and Incheon Robot Land's office building. Inside the theme park, they plan to separate the theme park into four different sections, including 'Robot Kingdom,' 'Fun City,' 'Robotopia,' and 'Kidbot Village' for the kids.

They plan to create 26 attractions in which 11 are rides, four are show attractions, four are performances, and seven are general attractions. These seven general attractions include robot themed restaurants, robot shops, and a future robots museum. A majority of these attractions will be new and never before seen attractions in Korea.

Incheon Robot Land is expected to open in 2013 using a budget of about KRW20 billion (US18.1 million). Included in this budget is the purchases of 340 robots, which will become a promotion for the development of the robotic industry.

A public hearing will be held next month, in which the representatives of the theme park will submit a practice and execution plan to the Ministry of Knowledge Economy and await for their approval. Once all the paperwork is submitted, construction is expected to begin in June of this year. As of right now, the plan is to construct most of the theme park by 2012 and then allowing foreign visitors to visit the theme park to promote the theme park globally.

Jun Wie Jin, Incheon Robot Land's representative stated, "Robot related cutting-edge laboratories, universities, business center for R&D, a robot graduate school, and a waterpark are being planned to mix with this enterprise and theme park. We plan to empl0y about 90,000 employees yearly and to create a work force that can effectively keep the theme park running stably. We all look forward to the opening of Incheon Robot Land."
