DENVER, Aug. 10, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Faction, a provider of next-generation cloud infrastructure, today announced the release of its second-generation Faction Cloud Control Volumes and NetApp Private Storage as a Service. This will allow customers to tap into three tiers of powerful storage on demand from inside of major public clouds or from cloud-connected datacenters.

“Dealing with data growth and data locality has become an increasingly big problem for Enterprises, and our Faction Cloud Control Volumes allow companies to tame their data problems by using storage-as-a-service to get the performance and capacity they need while controlling costs,” comments Luke Norris, CEO of Faction. “We are expanding our offering to now encompass three tiers of storage, from deep archive to lightning-fast all-flash. Our customers can now enjoy the benefits of Faction's storage and private cloud options near all the major cloud nodes in the United States.”

Faction Cloud Control Volumes is expanding to three tiers:

Deep - Throughput optimized, petabyte-scale file-based storage designed to deliver better value than major public cloud object storage.

Prime - Throughput optimized, flash-accelerated, petabyte-scale, file-based storage, with support for major NetApp features such as SnapMirror. It also offers the ability for customers to take full advantage of data efficiency technologies such as deduplication, compaction, and compression.

Flash - All-flash arrays optimized for fast access and massive throughput, capable of driving 20Gbp/s or more of throughput to hundreds of instances, making it perfect for the most demanding big data workloads. It also includes NetApp data management and data efficiency technologies.

“In order to thrive in today’s cloud-connected, digital age, enterprises will require an approach to data services that is secure, efficient, future-proof and offers freedom of choice,” said Anthony Lye, Senior Vice President, Cloud Business Unit at NetApp. “Our work with Faction reinforces our commitment to support customers in their digital transformation by offering solutions that simplify and integrate data services across cloud and on premises environments.”

NetApp Private Storage as a Service combined with Faction Cloud Volumes is a network-accessible storage solution delivered over NFS or iSCSI, with network connectivity to the public clouds or major cloud connected datacenters included. With nothing to buy or configure, enterprises are utilizing Faction Cloud Control Volumes to avoid cloud lock-in and egress charges and enable their hybrid- and multi-cloud strategy quickly and easily. Faction Professional Services offers cloud strategy, architecture, and implementation consulting to help organizations plan their hybrid- and multi-cloud strategy to map to their business objectives.
