UBOT5 from Laboratory for Perceptual Robotics at University of Massachusetts(Source: KISTEP)

Wearable computers, 3D visual without the glasses, multipurpose vaccines, nursing assistant robot, and other technological advancements have been thoroughly selected by KISTEP (Korea Institute of S&T Evaluation and Planning). The finalized research on 'KISTEP Top 10 Promising Future Technologies' is compiled of unusual, new technologies that seem to appear in SF movies.

This list of the brightest technologies that will start a huge ripple effect throughout our daily lives needs strategic counter measures to create financial value and reduce social opportunity costs at the same time.

These 10 technologies on the list went through six steps of examination and testing. First, 1000 specialists of science and technology were asked to finish a brief survey to select the most promising technology sectors. Then the number narrowed down to 202 experts who were then asked to suggest 380 products, technologies, and services to be fully analyzed. Lastly, these 380 miscellaneous sorts were studied on their realizable possibility as well as duplication probability and technological contents. According to these test results, experts chose 47 technologies and went through another assessment and evaluation by citizens and another pool of specialists.

The ten chosen technologies are as follows: wearable computer, 3D display, nursing assistant robot, multipurpose vaccine, gene therapy, home health care system, high energy-efficient portable solar cell, smart nuclear reactor, wireless power transmitter-receiver technology, eco-energy zero architecture technology.
