SK Telecom announced its newly adopted payment rate starting this March. The rate will be measured by KRW1.8 per second, instead of KRW18 per 10 seconds. This payment adjustment is expected to save about KRW16.8 billion per month for every SK Telecom customer. For example, if a customer talks for 11 seconds, the individual would had to pay KRW36 because 11 seconds automatically converts to 20 seconds, but now, the customer will pay KRW19.8 because 11 seconds simply means 11 seconds.
Moreover, this payment rate will apply to all services, including voice call, video telephone, pre-paid, and T-zone. "We are also maintaining the free 3 seconds or fewer calls. Such calls were previously free in case users misdialed or had a very short conversation and we are going to keep the program rather than applying the "per second" rate," says SK Telecom.
Currently, only four countries, France, Ireland, Poland, and Slovakia, have implemented such a payment rate.
