An adult website and magazine publisher Perfect 10 have sued Google Inc. and Amazon.com. The pretty dismal lawsuit by Perfect 10 argued that they both violated copyright law by indexing Perfect 10 photos posted on unauthorized websites. Perfect 10 said, "The pictures can be viewed with Amazon.com search sites A9.com and Alexa.com." Only Amazon.com Inc. settled with Perfect 10 Inc. The terms of the settlement are confidential and would not be disclosed to the public.
Perfect 10 requested for an injunctive order to prevent Google from displaying its thumbnail images of Perfect 10's photos that had linked to "third-party Web sites" which contained full-size copyrighted pictures.
U.S. District Judge Howard Matz in 2006 had granted Perfect 10's request for an order temporarily preventing Google from displaying thumbnail images of the publisher's photos that link to third-party Web sites that contain full-size pictures. Perfect 10 and Google have not made any settlement.
