Apple announced on March 5 that its long awaited Wi-Fi versions of iPad will be in stores in the United States less than a month from now, April 3 to be exact. The models that can connect with AT&T's 3G wireless data network will arrive in late April. Customers can pre-order the iPad on Apple's Web site starting next Friday.
Apple's tablet is expected to have 12 new applications specifically created for its own device and have the capability of handling all of the more than 150,000 applications available for the Apple products, such as iPhone and iPod Touch. Furthermore, Apple is aiming to launch Apple's iBookstore for those iBooks app users. The application will be available starting from April 3 in the U.S. and with additional countries down the road.
According to Apple the pricing of the device will remain the same as it initially announced in January. An Apple representative stated, "iPad will be available in Wi-Fi on April 3 in the United States for a suggested retail price of US$499 for 16GB, US$599 for 32GB, US$699 for 64GB. The Wi-Fi + 3G models will be available in late April for a suggested retail price of US$629 for 16GB, US$729 for 32GB and US$829 for 64GB. iPad will be sold in the United States through the Apple Store (www.apple.com), Apple's retail stores and select Apple Authorized Resellers." He continued to say, "The iPad will be available in both Wi-Fi and 3G models in late April in Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Spain, Switzerland and the United Kingdom, with more countries added later this year."
