The 22nd International Passive House Conference will be held from March 8 to 10, 2018 in Munich, Germany. This year’s conference theme is "PASSIVE HOUSE - IT'S WORTH IT!"

Professor Wolfgang Feist, founder of Passive House Institute(PHI) said, "the conference will host by PHI and will open Korean Pavilion in a first time by Passive House Seoul(PH-Seoul)". and "this conference will be an exceptional opportunity to discuss a wide range of topics related to passive houses. The topics will include various projects and technologies as well as issues regarding economic efficiencies, building retrofits, and renewable energy application and practices around the world." he added.

The first Korean Pavilion will exhibit and promote Korea's position in the Asian market, based on domestic passive house standards and the materials and technologies employed to improve energy efficiency. The pavilion is expected to provide impetus for Europe’s advanced passive house industrial technology to enter the domestic market.

Passive house standards are being applied in various fields such as domestic zero energy building mandatory policies, building retrofits, and sustainable urban renewal and smart city businesses, as part of a national development vision strategy. The rapidly expanding green building market around the globe and market for development of Asian cities are important factors in the need for Korean competitiveness in the development market.

In addition, the Korean Pavilion will serve as a stepping stone into new markets and spur development of appropriate materials based on passive house standards through technology exchange between German companies preparing to enter the Asian market and Korean companies requiring technological upgrades.

PH-Seoul, CEO Kim Jae-joon who sponsored the Korea Pavilion, said this will help to create a more affordable passive house construction materials market by localizing imported materials. Moreover, he said, this kind of environment will contribute to boosting Korean exports of superior products and at the same time provide support to the government's zero energy building policies.

Kim emphasized that PH-Seoul’s ultimate goal is to see the appropriate applications of passive house standards so that they will be the driving force behind the Korean government's climate policies. He also expressed his hopes for a large turnout from Korean companies at the 22nd International Passive House Conference.
