On Friday, Microsoft Korea announced a 320 percent increase in its Azure sales in its first year of operations of its domestic data center.
At the “Digital Transformation Summit,” Microsoft Korea’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Ko Soon-dong said, “the domestic data center, which started its operation in February last year, is a cloud facility with the world’s highest level of stability and performance and is playing a major role in enhancing the business efficiency and continuity of our customers.”
Microsoft now offers cloud services in more than 140 countries across 50 locations around the world through its Azure Regions, supporting a robust global network of customers with the most global regions in the world.
“Microsoft’s domestic Azure sector sales has grown more than 300 percent over the past year,” said Ko, adding, “We’ve also a seen sales growth of 277 percent, not in the storage-based laaS services, but in our PaaS-focused Azure data services such as machine learning, Artificial Intelligence (AI), big data, and cognitive services.”
With the opening of the domestic Office 365 data center in April last year, Office 365 sales rose 40 percent over the past year. It also provides complete cloud services across PaaS, SaaS and even LaaS.
CEO Ko said, “We are also working closely with Samsung SDS, LG CNS, and major medical institutions through strategic partnership to ensure that the benefits of the digital transformation are spread across the industry.”
He also added, “Over the past year, open-source based apps, solutions, and services revenues, running on Azure Cloud grew by 700 percent.” He further added, “It is contributing to creating a cloud ecosystem where local developers and start-ups can thrive.”
