Marks’ article entitled “How I Built a $100 Million Company by the Time I Was 17 Years Old,” shares tips for identifying and filling a market void

BOCA RATON, FL, April 02, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Grom Social (OTCQB: GRMM) ("Grom" or the "Company"), a social media company providing a safe networking environment for children ages five to 16, today shared a recent Entrepreneur op-ed article, along with other media coverage, that fully showcases the inspiration for and execution of Grom Social that has resulted in the Company’s prominence among social media platforms, parents and educators, and most importantly – the young people that it serves.

The op-ed for Entrepreneur, How I Built a $100 Million Company by the Time I Was 17 Years Old, highlights a then-12 year old’s frustration with his parents’ refusal to let him create a Facebook page. Understanding that there was a need for a safe, healthy social media platform for children his own age, Zach Marks developed the concept and first version of Grom Social with support from his family. When the social network was overwhelmed by millions of users, Zach and his family had to expand the Company by seeking investors aligned with their vision, all while maintaining brand integrity and staying true to their audience – children and their parents.

The article was published five years after Zach and Grom Social’s first appearance in the prominent business publication, when he and the platform were the subject of Why a 12-year Old Launched His Own Social Network, a story about Grom’s ambitious beginnings. While the Company has grown, reaching approximately 14 million users since inception and evolving into a broader media company that publishes and distributes original content, the one constant remains its purpose – providing a safe social media experience for kids.

This vision that has resonated with so many was also the subject of a recent feature by TheStreet, entitled Grom Social Offers a Safe Alternative to Facebook for Young People. While Grom considers itself unique and incomparable to other social media platforms, the Company’s growth has been fueled by its differentiators surrounding safety, providing a non-abusive environment for children that fosters smart social media use, while simultaneously equipping parents with the monitoring controls needed to stay abreast of their child’s internet development. This focus on strengthening the digital citizenship of children continues to be a driver for Grom’s user-base and overall business model.

“Zach and the rest of the Grom team have worked so hard to achieve growth objectives without jeopardizing brand integrity or losing sight of why Grom was created in the first place,” said Darren Marks, Chairman and CEO of Grom Social. “The recognition from the media only reinforces what we already know, especially in today’s cultural climate. Children and their parents require a network that not only provides a positive and safe social media experience, but one that serves as the first few steps for young people into the internet age, which will in turn make them stronger digital citizens as adults. We look forward to continuing to expand Grom’s reach by remaining committed to this vision.”
