LG Electronics announced on April 15th that it will begin global sales of its new 2018 LG OLED TV, which features its own Artificial Intelligence (AI) platform “DeepThinQ”.

Starting on April 16th (local time), sales will begin in the United States, followed by major European, Latin American, and Asian countries. In the United States, the OLED Experience Zone will be set up in more than 500 Best Buy stores nationwide, and the AI definition engine “Alpha 9” will be introduced.

There will be a demonstration of new products in Warsaw, Poland; Milano, Italy; Vienna, Austria; and Bogota, Colombia.

The company plans to increase the global OLED TV market from the 1.6 million units sold last year to 2.5 million units this year. It also plans to increase the share of OLED TVs from its own TV sales from 15 percent last year to 20 percent this year. By 2018, all OLED TVs will be capable of screen mode and channel changes, and volume adjustment by applying the natural language voice recognition function.

The company explained that the OLED TVs could be easily connected to the sound bar, Blu-ray players and game consoles. While existing users had to go through complicated steps when browsing on the TV or changing the settings, LG’s Artificial Intelligence TVs can be turned on by pressing the microphone display button on the magic remote control and then commanding it.
