Nintendo/Google Game

In what may strike most as an unusual pairing, gaming giant Nintendo and search engine uber-company Google have teamed up to release a game based on the popularity of search terms and internet trends.

Siliconera reports that the game, And Kensaku, will feature 10,000 popular search phrases and trends, and allow the Wii to access more online. The terms are then used in several mini-games, including a standard trivia-style game where you must guess the most popular search term, a hot-potato-style game, and a game where your character will run faster than your opponent's character with after choosing the more popular trends, just to name a few.

And Kensaku is scheduled for a Japanese release on April 29th, although no international releases have been planned. While the game may not appeal to everyone, the significance between Nintendo and Google partnering is an interesting one. No further announcements have been made about future projects, but it is hard to imagine either company not wanting to take advantage of the possibilities.

You can view the traditionally bewildering Japanese trailer with horrifically catchy theme music here.
