SK Telecom holds IoT Conference for developers and corporate customers

SK Telecom (CEO Park Jeong-ho) announced on May 3rd that it held the ‘All Things Data Conference (ATDC) 2018’ to share its IoT, 5G, and AI capabilities with corporate customers in order to find ways to create synergy. 

‘ATDC’ is an IoT event held by SK Telecom since 2013, where customers and developers look for business models and new partnerships with SK Telecom. This year’s event, which was held at the Grand Intercontinental Seoul Parnas, attracted more than 2,500 applicants. 

SK Telecom introduced the core technologies and services of SK Telecom with the participation of ICT Chief directors such as MNO business directorSeoSeong-won, IoT/Data business director Ho Il-kyu, and AI research center director Kim Yoon. 

SeoSeong-won, business director of the MNO division, said that for the ‘New ICT Era’, it is necessary to establish the following: a powerful 5G communication network that can connect people and objects in the world safely, a big data on 5G network, and big data analysis through AI. He further added, “We plan to provide the best service to our customers through this.” 

Domestic and international experts have continued to present various topics under three main categories: ‘Smart cities’, ‘AI/Data’, and ‘Autonomous Driving’. 

The theme of ‘Smart City’ was focused on government policies and best practices of it,and was presented by a professor at Yonsei University, Kim Gab-sung, who is the president’s chairman of the 4th Industrial Revolution Smart City special committee. The theme of ‘AI/DATA’ was focused on the present and future of artificial intelligence and was announced by SK Telecom’s AI research center director Kim Yoon, 

The theme of ‘Autonomous Driving’ was announced by Sanjay Sood, the vice-president of the company that oversees the company’s autonomous operation ‘Here’, and focused on cooperation with SKT for HD map solutions for autonomous driving in Korea in order to expand its influence globally. 

 “Collaboration with business partners will become more important in the 5G, AI, and IoT fields in the first connection period. We will continue to take the lead in revitalizing the ecosystem by sharing and collaborating with SK Telecom’s ICT know-hows,” said SK Telecom’s IoT/Data business director Ho Il-kyu.
