KT is going to present a new standard of data life with the ‘DATA ON’ plan, which selects the plan according to the customer’s usage patterns as needed. In 2015, KT echoed the mobile communications market by introduction the ‘Data Selection Plan’, which selects data only for unlimited number of voice calls and text messages, in Korea, will once again offer a landmark fare plan.
KT made an announcement on May 30th that it will release roaming charges that offer significant benefits such as LTE rate system that greatly enhances data benefits and domestic currency charges starting with the U.S., China, and Japan.
The DATA ON rate plan that was released on the same day has three main options: Talk, Video, and Premium, and each provides basic mobile and wireless voice calls and text messages just like current data selection plans.
The ‘DATA ON Talk’ is targeted at customers who use wireless data centered on SNS, web surfing, and SD (Standard Definition) videos. It provides 3GB per month at a monthly rate of 45 dollars (including VAT). When the basic data (3GB) is exceeded, the rate plan provides unlimited data at a maximum speed of 1 Mbps, which is enough to enjoy SD videos without any difficulties.
The ‘DATA ON Video’ is targeted at customers who enjoy High-Definition (HD) videos. It provides an increase amount of data provided from the previous rate plan by providing 100GB of data per month with a fixed rate of 64 dollars per month. When users exceed the basic data (100GB), they can use unlimited data at a maximum speed of 5Mbps.
The ‘DATA ON Premium’ offers unlimited mobile data without data or speed limits at 83 dollars per month. As there is no data or speed limit, this plan is targeted to those users who enjoy UHD (Ultra-High Definition) videos.
KT is also launching the ‘LTE Basic’ rate plan that offers enhanced data benefits for low price users. The LTE Basic provides wired and wireless voice calls and texts at a monthly cost of 31 dollars per month, as well as providing 1GB of data per month, which can be carried over to the next month every month.
“In response to the changes in smartphone usage patterns, we have launched a ‘DATA ON’ rate system that selects fee system according to usage patterns so that customers who use smartphones can use data efficiently,” said an official at KT.
