LG Uplus and Naver announced on May 31stat their company building that they decided to actively support families with visual impairments by donating ‘U+ home AI’ speakers to the Korea Blind Union

At the meeting, the two companies also decided customized services for people with visual disabilities who need the most AI technology. The whole-hearted AI technology will make the life of the handicapped families and the social underprivileged more enriching.

At the event, there was a ceremony in which U+ home AI speakers were donated to 500 households with vision impairment, and it was attended by LG Uplus Vice President Kwon Young-soo, Naver Business Manager Choi In-hyuk, Naver Clover leader Kang Suk Ho, and Hong Soon-bong, President of the Korea Blind Union.

In February, LG Uplus conducted a project to supply U+ home AI speakers to 500 households with visually impaired children between the ages 5 and 10. The visually impaired households showed very positive responses and there was a lot of demand for additional supplies; that is why the event was held in order to respond positively to the high social interest in warm AI technology.

In fact, Cho Hyun-young, a first-rate visually impaired working mother who was supported by U+ home AI speakers, was invited to attend the ‘2018 Korean Innovation Growth Report Contest’ that was held on May 17th to speak about the different AI speaker functions such as checking fine dusts, reciting storybooks, etc., that helped her care for her children.

LG Uplus and Naver will not only deliver AI speakers, but will also add custom content for the visually impaired to the U+ home AI speaker and upgrade related functions.

In addition to the 26,000 voice contents that are currently provided by Naver’s ‘Audio Clip’, the two companies plan to provide content for people with visual disabilities such as daily news, 15,000 audio books, and weekly/monthly magazines, which are owned by the Korea Blind Union, through the U+ home AI
