Samsung SDI is taking the lead in European markets with the introduction of their new ESS(Energy Storage System) Battery Module for High Voltage Home.
Samsung SDI recently participated in 'EES(Electrical Energy Storage) Europe 2018', the world's biggest ESS exhibition, which was held in Munich, Germany for three days starting from the 20th. They exhibited various ESS products.
The ESS Battery Module for High Voltage Home was showcased at this exhibition. This product has excellent energy conversion efficiency due to high voltage compared to current home ESS.
In the case of older products, expensive peripherals were needed to store the high voltage power in ESS. However, Samsung SDI's products are highly complementary to such weaknesses.
The current conversion process is necessary to use power generated by solar power at home, which this results in power loss. The higher the voltage of ESS battery module, the better the energy efficiency, as loss is minimized.
Samsung SDI emphasized that it had increased capacity by more than 20 % and optimized the design of the modules by innovating the internal materials without changing the size of the battery cells.
Home ESS markets are continually growing towards European markets that have a high penetration of new renewable energy including solar energy.

Kim Jeong-wook, vice president of Samsung SDI's strategic marketing division, emphasized, "we will become a leading company of ESS batteries through differentiated technology."
