As the construction of Kuwait International Airport’s Terminal 4 is completed, the Incheon International Airport Corporation’s Kuwait Airport Terminal 4 consignment operation project is on its way.
On June 4th (local time), the opening ceremony of the 4th Terminal was held at Kuwait Airport, which is located 15.6 km south of the city of Kuwait.
The event was attended by more than 200 officials from the airport and airline industry including Sabah Al Sabah, King of Kuwait, Sheikh Salman, Kuwait Civil Aviation chief, and Chung Il-young, president of Incheon International Airport Corporation.
The Incheon International Airport was finally selected as the fourth terminal operator of the Kuwait Airport on April 22nd, beating out France’s ADP, Germany’s Prafort, and Ireland’s Dublin Airport Corporation. On May 8th, the company signed a consignment contract with the client, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation – State of Kuwait (DGCA).
For the next five years, Incheon International Airport Corporation will be dedicated to the operation of all areas of aviation security, passenger service, commercial facilities management, facility operation, maintenance and repair of Terminal 4.
The fourth terminal of the Kuwait Airport will officially open on August 8th after a process of bidding for commercial facilities and conducting a test operation at the airport.
The Kuwait Airport is a state-run airport with a 100 percent stake in the Kuwait government. Is it the representative airport in the Middle East, which handled 12 million passengers last year.
The government of Kuwait has built the fourth terminal at a cost of about 170 million dollars to cope with the growing demand of air travel. The terminal 4 can handle 4.5 million passengers per year and operates as a Kuwait air terminal.
