LG Electronics filed a patent infringement lawsuit against European smartphone maker Wiko on June 11.
LG filed a lawsuit against Wiko at Manheim District Court in Germany on June 9 local time, saying Wiko violated LG’s LTE standard patent lawsuit.
This is the second-time LG Electronics filed a patent lawsuit related to smartphones since filing a lawsuit against U.S. smartphone maker BLUE in March last year.
According to market research firm Strategy Agency, Wiko sold more than 10 million smartphones in Europe last year.
LG Electronics has requested several patent licensing deals since 2015, but Wiko has refused each and every single one of them.
“We will continue to respond firmly to the unauthorized use of our patents,” said Jeon Seong-kyu, Vice president of LG Electronics patent center.
