Controversy is brewing as Pfizer Pharmaceutical Korea announced its acceptance of the screening process for hiring new employees, but suddenly announced its suspension of recruitment.
Pfizer Pharmaceutical Korea announced the successful candidates of the first round of documents, informed them of the interview schedule, and suddenly sent them an e-mail stating that they would “cancel their employment”. Of the 61 people who passed the screening process, 17 were scheduled to be hired through interviews.
“We had confirmed the date of the interview with Pfizer’s Human Resources team and submitted all necessary documents including consent forms for processing personal information, but suddenly the company sent an email saying that the job was suspended,” said applicant A in an interview with Chosun Biz. He further added, “I feel downhearted and disconcerted. If these irresponsible hiring behavior is not properly pointed out, companied will keep doing such irresponsible behaviors.”
“I could not hear any concrete explanation, such as the fact that I would safely dismiss the supporting documents or not use my personal information because it was us that stopped the hiring process,” applicant A added.
Under these circumstances, the applicants were told that they could not actively appeal or protest to Pfizer because they were afraid that it would be disadvantageous to them in the future.
“When we proceed with the recruitment process, we report to our headquarters (New York, USA). However, there was a revised business strategy presented in our headquarters that made us suddenly put on hold the recruitment process,” said Pfizer Pharmaceutical Korea in an interview with SisaFocus.
